Quick guide to Kokedamas

Literally meaning moss ball in Japanese, kokedamas are a world to discover. These joyful and interesting looking arrangements started as an alternative for bonsai, being called the “poor man’s bonsai”. They are low maintenance in comparison to a bonsai and more of an indoor addition than outdoor, like a bonsai.

Kokedamas grabbed my complete attention and they made me take a leap of faith and start with my plant journey again. These moss balls have a beautiful and interesting aesthetic appeal and they can have an incredibly therapeutic effect when making them or caring for them.

When making kokedamas, the soil combination and selection will depend on what plant you would like to have, since each will have different requirements for humidity and drainage. I will give you some pointers for the materials that you could use depending on different plants
